🌲 Grade 6 Team Building Excursion: Hale Reservation! 🌲
We are thrilled to announce that the entire Blake Middle School Sixth Grade Class will be kicking off the school year with an exciting outdoor adventure! This September, students will head to Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA for three consecutive days of outdoor education, community building, and teamwork.
Hale Education's beautiful 1,000+ acre campus offers the perfect backdrop for our students to build collaborative skills and bond with their peers as they begin their middle school journey.
📅 Trip At-A-Glance
Who: The entire 6th Grade Class.
When: September 16, 17, & 18 (the 3rd week of school), from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM each day.
Where: Hale Reservation – Westwood, MA.
What: Activities include the Team Building Challenge Course, Ecosystems (science connection), Survival Trail, Art in Nature, and more.
Cost: $240 per student (covers all programming and bus transportation).

What to BRING each day:
🥪 A bagged lunch.
🥜 A nut-free snack.
💧 Bottled water.
🎒 A drawstring backpack or small bag.
What to WEAR & APPLY:
👟 Sneakers are REQUIRED (Strictly no sandals or Crocs).
🧥 Clothing dressed in layers to accommodate changing weather.
🦟 Bug spray (please apply at home).
☀️ Sunscreen (apply at home, but pack it in your bag for reapplication).
🤝 Supporting Our Community: The Blake Scholarship Fund
If you would like to help ensure all students can participate in enrichment experiences like this, donations to the Blake Scholarship Fund are greatly appreciated. This fund directly benefits Blake families requesting financial assistance for field trips, intramurals, and school-sponsored activities. Donations can be made via cash or checks made payable to "Town of Medfield - Blake Middle School".

Because of low numbers in the sophomore class, the JV numbers for girls lacrosse at the high school are low this season. We are looking for some 8th graders who would be interested in some extra lacrosse this spring to play on the high school JV team. We are not exactly sure how it would look yet so we wanted to get an idea of how many would be interested in playing. The expectation would be for you to uphold your commitment to your Medfield youth team and select teams. We will work with you to make that possible. The season would run from now until 5/19. If you are up for that, please fill out the following survey ASAP so we can begin to figure out logistics.
Please discuss with your family to make sure your schedule can handle it! Choosing not to play JV this year will have NO effect on whether you make the team next year and there is zero pressure to play this season. We know a lot of you have probably already made other commitments for this spring and this may not be possible, we just hope you all will try out next year! There are no cuts and 8th graders cannot play on Varsity. Generally JV has 2 games a week on weekdays. Practice is everyday after school however we know with your youth schedules that will be a lot so we are going to work together to make a doable schedule. There are no practices on weekends. We will be holding an informational meeting on Wednesday, 3/25 immediately after school in the health room!

Blake Track & Field will open its season on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Current Physical
A current physical (valid for 13 months from the exam date) must be on file with the Blake nurse and remain valid for the entire season.
Athletics Fee
$225, payable by check or money order to Town of Medfield, or online via UniPay Gold.
Practice Schedule:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (unless it is a meet day)
Time & Place: 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM @ MHS track
Practices are NOT mandatory; Meets are NOT mandatory.
Running Friday November 7th @ 7pm, and Saturday November 8th @ 4pm and 7pm.

Starting next Monday, 7/28, the Blake parking lot is going to be repaved - and the area will be blocked off. Staff and visitors can park at the high school and then walk to the front door of Blake. We will let you know when the work is over - thanks so much! And, we can all look forward to a 'smooth' entry back into school next year :)
