August 7, 2025
Dear Blake Families,
I hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying this beautiful weather! More information will be shared with families as we get closer to the start of the 2025-2026 school year, but I wanted to share updates regarding drop-off times with the new school hours for 2025-2026, revised expectations regarding mobile devices, and the timeframe for our first day of school for students on August 27, 2025.
New School Hours for 2025-2026
School hours this year are 8:35-3:10. All students should arrive by 8:30 a.m. in order to have time to get to class on time and not be marked tardy to school. Supervision is not provided for students until 8:10 a.m., so students can not be dropped off at school prior to 8:10 a.m. to assure a safe environment.
Between 8:10 and 8:30, 6th and 7th graders may wait in the Gymnasium and 8th graders may wait in the Cafeteria until the bell rings and passing music comes on for students to head to their first period class. Students can not be in classroom areas prior to the first bell at 8:30 a.m. They may pick up free breakfast in the main office lobby and take it to their respective waiting space (cafeteria or gym).
Mobile/Cell Phones, Smartwatches, Wearable Devices, AirPods, Earbuds, and Headphones
Our student handbooks have been updated and we want to share our newly revised language and expectations for devices...
Mobile/cell phones, Smartwatches, Wearable Devices, Airpods, Earbuds and Headphones are not allowed to be used during the school day. They should be turned off and should remain locked in lockers or zipped into backpacks if brought to school. Cell phones, smartwatches, and wearable devices should not be on your person or visible or audible during the school day. Items will be confiscated and brought to the main office if used at inappropriate times. There is a phone available in the Counseling office if you need to make a call.
** Please note that airpods and headphones may be used for classroom purposes with permission from a staff member, but they may not be worn in the hallways during passing time.
Opening Day Timeframe - 8/27
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 27. Arrival times are staggered on the first day only.
6th graders will arrive at the 'normal time' (between 8:10-8:30 a.m.) AND PROCEED TO THE GYMNASIUM and 6th grade bus riders will go to the bus stop at their scheduled time.
7th and 8th graders do not come to school until 10:30 a.m. on the first day. This means students who ride a bus will go to their bus stop 2 hours later than their scheduled time.
At the end of the school day, students are free to walk, ride their bikes, take their assigned bus, or get a ride home without prior notification to the main office.
As always, please reach out with any questions. Thank you for walking this path with us as a community. I look forward to the work that lies ahead for all of us.
Enjoy the upcoming weekend!
Take care.
