HELPFUL INFORMATION:

HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHT #30

A reminder to all students that only students with an assigned parking spot from the main office may park at school.

We have many seniors on senior project who will be coming into the building to attend their required AP and music classes. Many others are coming into the building regularly to meet with their inside mentors and to work on their projects. See parking expectations from the Student Handbook below:

STUDENT PARKING

  • Parking is designated for seniors, with each eligible driver receiving a numbered parking spot for the school year. The fee for parking on campus is $180/year. All students must register their vehicle(s) with the Assistant Principal prior to receiving a spot assignment and physical parking pass.

  • If there are additional parking spaces available, there will be a parking lottery for eligible juniors.

  • Students may not visit their cars during the school day without permission from the main office.

  • Students parking on campus are doing so at their own risk, and Medfield High School is not responsible for damages or theft.

  • Medfield High School students and visitors are expected to obey all traffic safety laws and speed limits. Failure to do so will result in possible legal action and revocation of parking privileges.

  • Students are not permitted to transfer or loan parking spots to other students. Sophomores may not park on campus.

  • Students who drive to school without an assigned parking spot or authorization from the main office will receive disciplinary consequences. Violators of the parking expectations may be subject to the loss of current or future on-campus parking privileges.

  • Parking privileges may be revoked for leaving campus without proper authorization.

For more information, please visit the MHS Student Handbook.

84 MOVEMENT CLUB

The students in our ‘84 Movement’ club visited the State House for the annual ‘Kicks Butts day’ yesterday and it was an epic success! ‘Kick Butts Day’ is a national day that raises awareness about tobacco and vaping prevention among teens. The 84 is a program from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Tobacco Cessation and Prevention program.

Our club members spoke directly to the legislature about their opinion on the dangers/disparities surrounding big Tobacco companies and about what they are seeing and feeling in hopes of making change. Each student met face to face with Collin Fedor, the Chief of staff on the Committee on Education, Alex Wagner, the legislative aide to State Senator Becca Rausch and lastly, our own State Representative Denise Garlick. We are so proud of them!

84 Movement Club members who attended: Emma Catalano, Catherine Colunio, Sofia Lozano, Julia Orsini, Fernando Neto, Caroline Ross, Anna Small, Maggie Wingett

FROM THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Medfield High School Concert Band Earns GOLD MEDAL and String Orchestra Earns SILVER MEDAL at MICCA Festival!

On Friday evening, April 5, 2024 at Foxborough High School the Medfield High School Concert Band and String Orchestra performed at the Massachusetts Instrumental & Choral Conductors Association (MICCA) Festival. The Concert Band, conducted by Jason Bielik received the highest rating of GOLD and the String Orchestra, conducted by Brenna Evans received the second highest rating of SILVER. Both ensembles played three pieces and did an outstanding job. There were three adjudicators evaluating the ensembles’ performances and at the conclusion of each performance there was a 25-minute clinic for the students, directors, and parents led by one of the adjudicators. The ensemble directors also received score sheets from each of the adjudicators, recorded adjudicators’ comments and a performance recording. Congratulations to these talented music students and their directors, Mr. Bielik and Mrs. Evans!

Additionally, on April 14, 2024 the Concert Band has been invited to play for an encore performance at the Gold Medal Showcase at Groton Hill Music Center in Groton, MA.
