HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHT #25

GUIDELINES FOR MAKING UP MISSED WORK DUE TO ABSENCE(S)

  • Students are expected to submit classwork prior to an absence when possible and over the course of that absence. If this is not possible, the classwork is expected immediately upon return.
  • Students missing class due to tardiness are responsible for submitting/completing work due that day. This includes projects, assignments, tests, and quizzes.
  • Students missing class due to dismissal are responsible for submitting/completing required work to the teacher prior to leaving school. This includes projects, assignments, tests, and quizzes.
  • ANTICIPATED ABSENCES: Students must coordinate with each individual teacher to obtain work being missed during the projected absence(s). For multi-day absences, students/parents/guardians should contact all teachers in advance to allow for planning and coordination. This includes school-sponsored trips as well.
  • UNPLANNED ABSENCES: If a student is absent and was not able to coordinate with their teachers in advance or during the absence, the student is expected to do so immediately upon return to school, whether the class meets that day or not.

For more information, please visit the MHS Student Handbook.

EMPTY BOWLS IS BACK THIS YEAR!

For those who may be unfamiliar, Empty Bowls is a community event that combines pottery and food to raise money with proceeds benefiting the Medfield Food Cupboard.

Participants have a chance to take a pottery class where they will make a bowl, which will be used at the big event to eat out of. No time to make a bowl? No problem! You can join us in May and we will have bowls available for purchase. This year, we will be enjoying an Ice Cream Social with our handmade bowls on May 9th.

We have had a loyal crew of regulars the past few years, and we would love for more folks to get involved and join us...it is a lot of fun!

Please follow this link to sign up (or use the QR below) and feel free to reach out with any questions.

The 2024 GRiT conference will take place on April 20, 2024, from 1-3:30 pm at Concord Academy (166 Main St, Concord, MA 01742). The conference will consist of two workshop blocks with workshops hosted by CA alums and other non-males in the tech industry. Students will be able to choose the workshop they wish to attend through a form sent to them prior to the conference.

As examples of workshops, our 2023 conference hosted workshops regarding navigating the tech world as a WOC, an introduction to creating more accessible technology, how to use technology and psychology to discover your own work style, and more!
