Dear Parents,
As we have significant snow in the forecast, I wanted to remind everyone about our usual inclement weather procedures, as well as changes to the traditional snow day for the 2020-2021 school year. We will once again utilize the Blackboard-Connect System to notify parents if school is closed, delayed, dismissed early, or a remote day. The phone call will be sent to each household and parent cell phone number that is currently on file with the district.

For this year only, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is allowing districts to call "remote learning days" instead of a traditional snow day. If we do not have school this year due to inclement weather, we will have a remote learning day unless there are widespread power outages in Medfield. If we have widespread power outages, it will be a traditional snow day. This model provides continuity of learning and does not require the district to add a day to the end of the school year.
If we have a remote day tomorrow, it will be synchronous for Cohort B and a scheduled remote day for Cohort A and will follow a time schedule similar to a Wednesday. Each building will share the actual schedule with parents and/or students. This schedule may change if we have additional snow days later in the year.
Please remember that there will be times when school is not canceled, delayed, or dismissed early and the weather is still inclement. Those days will feature slower travel for buses and cars, but will not necessarily require a change in the normal schedule. Please remember if you ever feel it is unsafe to travel, you always have the option to keep your child home.
