Open Circle

May, 2013

In the month of May, we have continued to work on the 6 problem solving steps.  More specifically, we have discussed how to utilize the problem-solving process across all areas of the school, as well as at home.  As we move forward into the end of May/beginning of June, we will begin to discuss leadership skills, such as introducing the concept of a leader and recognizing what it means to be a good leader in the classroom and on the playground.

A good leader is someone who:

1) gets things going
2) organizes activities
3) helps others play
4) helps the group calm down

Our good character word for the month of May is: Caring.

As we move toward June, we will begin to discuss building positive relationships and solving people problems. More specifically, we will help students evaluate their progress this year, as well as to review the problem solving steps and look at the benefits of problem solving.  Finally, we will end the year in Open Circle by sharing feelings about Open Circle and reflecting on the school year.

Our good character word for the month of June will be: Citizenship.
