Food Services Announces Nutrikids Point-of-Sale System
The Medfield Public Schools Food Service Department evaluated many different computerized Point-of-Sale (POS) systems to increase the level of service and streamline the lunch lines at our schools. After reviewing several systems, the decision was made to purchase the NUTIRKIDS POS. For more information please refer to the attached document.
We are planning to implement this new system in Medfield with expected launch dates as follows:
- High School - Tuesday, April 23
- Middle School - Wednesday, April 24
- Dale Street School - Thursday, April 25
- WheelockSchool - Friday, April 26
- Memorial School - Thursday, April 25
We are also pleased to provide parents with a convenient and secure online payment service called mySchoolBucks. This website allows parents to deposit money directly into their child’s school meal account and view balance and purchase information for the past ninety (90) days. By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the cafeteria, lunch lines will move along faster, providing your child more time to eat and be with friends. Please visit the Food Services page for more information on the mySchoolBucks system
If you choose not to take advantage of the online payment service, you may continue to make advance payments via check, which should be made payable to Medfield Food Services. Please remember to write your child’s full name on the check. For those who have previously purchased pre-paid lunches (either for the month or for the year) your child’s account will be credited with the value of the remaining meals upon the implementation of this new system. Please note, however, that in order for us to be able to transfer unused balances, it is necessary that you create a mySchoolBucks account for each child for whom balances are to be transferred.

Our middle school encompasses grades six through eight and focuses on the learning needs of early adolescents. Emphasis is placed on academic success and acquisition of basic skills. In addition, students are supported in the development of life-long learning habits and behaviors. The middle school program at the Thomas A . Blake Middle School utilizes the interdisciplinary team approach at each grade level. Within each grade level, teachers and students are assigned to a cluster. Students in a specific cluster work exclusively with four to five teachers for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language. Clustering of students and teachers allows teachers to know their students well as learners. Teachers in each cluster work together to address the learning styles and needs of their students. Students also experience Related Arts courses which include, Physical Education, Art, Health, Consumer Science, Performance Music (Band, Chorus, Orchestra), and General Music. These courses provide our students with opportunities to demonstrate their talents and in many instances introduce new programs in an exploratory setting. Our beliefs about teaching and learning at the Thomas A. Blake Middle School are demonstrated daily with the 4R's of Responsibility, Respect, Resourcefulness and Reflection.
These attributes are embedded in every aspect of teaching from our Advisory program to our many after-school intramurals. Behind every successful school is a supportive and collaborative community. Our stakeholders continue to provide us with opportunities to improve our middle school programming as we strive to create a warm, safe and engaging environment where all students can achieve success.
